November 2018 The Schoonhoven Silver Award is an initiative of the ‘Stichting Zilverkunst’ (Silver Art Foundation). Since its inception in 2001 the Award has had six winner.In 2010 the organisation of the award was transferred to the Nederlands Zilvermuseum in Schoonhoven and the competition has since taken place under the museum’s auspices. The Award’s most recent editions have been dedicated to promoting contemporary ‘great, silver art’ to a broader, art-minded audience, with the emphasis on innovative silver concepts.

March 2018 Here is the piece as featured on Benchpeg:"Internationally renowned silversmith Wayne Meeten picked up another gong at the #JewelleryOscars, the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Awards, this month. Meeten’s piece, ‘Spirit of Energy’ took Gold in the three dimensional finished piece category. The work was a commission made for a client “who was having a house built in the West Country, in Devon by the Estuary. It was designed to be placed under their new glass staircase.” The silversmith said."

The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) funds the education of talented craftspeople through traditional college courses, apprenticeships or one-on-one training with masters. QEST was established in 1990 to help support craftspeople of all ages and from all backgrounds, at a critical stage in their careers and thus sustain traditional British Craftsmanship. QEST is honoured that HM The Queen became QEST’s first Patron in her 90th birthday year.
This auction will give people the chance to bid on some of the most exemplary craftsmanship the UK has to offer. This auction is a celebration of the intelligence and creativity of British talent. June 2015 Wayne Meeten gave a lecture at Manchester Museum Of Art on the influences of Japanese metalwork fused with British Silversmithing and Tai Chi and Chi Kung movements.

Goldsmiths Company Commission
January 2015I have been commissioned by the Goldsmiths Company to make an important piece for their Collection. It will then travel on a world tour first to Edninburgh Museum Of Art, and then onto Hong Kong and China.
Learning with a Living National Treasure
September 2014In September 2014 I started my first trip of 5 weeks to study different techniques of Zougan, and Uchidashi with living National Treasure Katsuri Morohito and Naoko Tamura ast their private school in Tokyo. This will be an intensive course over a four year period. After this time I have been asked to make an important piece for a Japanese Craft Competition in 2018.
Winning the BJA & BATF award
2014Winning the BJA & BATF award to design and make a contemporary Fruit Bowl for their private collection was a huge honour, to beat such a strong field of designers and craftsman to not only win first prize, but to also take the second prize also.

Crafted Contemporary British Craft

Crafted provides mentoring and business advice for up to 12 craft entrepenuers selected by a panel of industry experts.
Every individual involved the programme has a fundamental belief in craftsmanship, and appreciation for objects beautifully made.
Crafted was developed by Arts & Business and Walpole, and is supported by the American Express Foundation.My Mentor is Stephen Etheridge of Church's English Shoes.
