The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) funds the education of talented craftspeople through traditional college courses, apprenticeships or one-on-one training with masters. QEST was established in 1990 to help support craftspeople of all ages and from all backgrounds, at a critical stage in their careers and thus sustain traditional British Craftsmanship. QEST is honoured that HM The Queen became QEST’s first Patron in her 90th birthday year.



This auction will give people the chance to bid on some of the most exemplary craftsmanship the UK has to offer. This auction is a celebration of the intelligence and creativity of British talent. Christie’s world renowned auction rooms is the perfect setting to celebrate our alumni’s talents and to raise funds to continue to support craftsmanship whilst elevating craftsmanship to have the same appreciation of its skill as fine art.

June 2016 New letter of endorsement from Naoko Tamura sensei, the assisstant to Katsuri Morohito, regarding traditional metalwork technique of Hira Zougan, during Wayne's visit to Tokyo early in 2016.

Manchester Museum Of Art Lecture

June 2015 Wayne Meeten gave a lecture at Manchester Museum Of Art on the influences of Japanese metalwork fused with British Silversmithing and Tai Chi and Chi Kung movements.

Katsuri Morohito

June 2015 Wayne Meeten who won a Qest Scholarship in 2014 to study Japanese inlay, and Uchi Dashi with Living National Treasure Katsuri Morohito and his assistant Naoko Tamura. After year two a report on my progress. But also Morohito sensei receiving the highest accolade for craftsmanship from the Emperor Of Japan 2015

Goldsmiths Company Commission

January 2015I have been commissioned by the Goldsmiths Company to make an important piece for their Collection. It will then travel on a world tour first to Edninburgh Museum Of Art, and then onto Hong Kong and China.

Learning with a Living National Treasure

September 2014In September 2014 I started my first trip of 5 weeks to study different techniques of Zougan, and Uchidashi with living National Treasure Katsuri Morohito and Naoko Tamura ast their private school in Tokyo. This will be an intensive course over a four year period. After this time I have been asked to make an important piece for a Japanese Craft Competition in 2018.

Winning the BJA & BATF award

2014Winning the BJA & BATF award to design and make a contemporary Fruit Bowl for their private collection was a huge honour, to beat such a strong field of designers and craftsman to not only win first prize, but to also take the second prize also.

Crafted Contemporary British Craft

12th September 2011 Crafted provides mentoring and business advice for up to 12 craft entrepenuers selected by a panel of industry experts. Every individual involved the programme has a fundamental belief in craftsmanship, and appreciation for objects beautifully made. Crafted was developed by Arts & Business and Walpole, and is supported by the American Express Foundation.My Mentor is Stephen Etheridge of Church's English Shoes.

The Balvenie Masters of Craft Awards 2011

5th June 2011 The winners for this wonderful award, celebrating master craftsmen, have been announced, and I am grateful to be chosen among the winners. Both The Telegraph and The Guardian websites have run features on the award and images of myself and the other winners.
